Jet Lag

I always have a harder time crossing multiple time zones when I am flying east. I expect to face jet lag on the flight over to Ireland.

Symptoms of jet lag include:

  • Dehydration and loss of appetite
  • Headaches and/or sinus irritation
  • Fatigue
  • Disorientation and/or grogginess
  • Nausea and/or upset stomach
  • Insomnia and/or highly irregular sleep patterns
  • Irritability, Irrationality

Long distance travel can be so much fun.

I head off to Ireland on Monday. The CIA maintains a factbook on the world’s countries. Here is their brief on Ireland and here is their brief on Canada.

Some interesting data:

  • Ireland’s land mass is 68,890 square miles. Canada’s land mass is 9,093,507 square miles.
  • Ireland’s population is 4 million. Canada has 33 million.
  • 88% of Irish are Roman Catholic. 43% of Canadians are Roman Catholic.
  • Ireland’s GDP is $165 billion. Canada’s GDP is $1.114 trillion.
  • There are 3.78 million cellphones in Ireland, almost one per person. There are 15 million cellphones in Canada.
  • 2 million Internet users in Ireland. 21 million Internet users in Canada, most of whom bookmark this blog.
