Tour of Sufferlandria Results

The Tour of Sufferlandria posted the prize winners for 2018.

And there I am. On the winner”™s list!

This does not mean that I won the tour only that I won a prize for being part of the tour. My prize is a BMC Team USA long sleeve cycling skin suit similar to the one in the above picture. The kit is made by Assos, a premier manufacturer of cycling clothing based out of Switzerland.

I am still suffering from the tour. It made such an impact on my immune system that I am down for the count with a nasty virus. Day 5 and little relief in sight. I am flying to Las Vegas on Sunday and hoping that I am on the mend by then.

Congratulations, Richard. While I have been following your journey, I cannot imagine actually completing this grueling exercise (pun intended). I know you have done this in the past and it can’t get any easier year over year. This shows a great deal of commitment, dedication and likely love of the sport. I like cycling with Sue as well, but we tend to coast down the hills and pedal begrudgingly up. 🙂

    Well done, Sir!

All the best and hope you have a speedy recovery for your trip to ‘Vegas!

Also, countdown continues to retirement. It will go fast my friend.

And lastly, loving the Super Champ. I took it on a road trip to Mississauga (packed of course in the box/bubble wrap you shipped it in) to play with my best friend of some 35 years. We have been playing that long together. He played through his vintage Fender Deluxe Black face, 1966, and I through the Champ. No pedals, no other enhancements and man did they sound great together. Nice to get back to basics and let your fingers do the talking.

Take care and say Hi! to Lorraine and hope all is well with you (other than you with sore muscles and an exhausted body). Eddie and Ellie say hi! to Tabby as well.

Paul is not talking about losing Salvation. He is talking about not doing his very best. The running to win the prize does not mean the prize is Salvation. The running to win the prize is figure of speech indicating that when God assigns Spiritual Gifts, the recipient must utilize them to the best of his ability. If they don”t they have lost the race or have been disqualified from God”s main purpose. If he were to accept money for his work, in his opinion, there would be a lesser Blessing than if not accepted. A prize is something that you win because of what you did. Salvation is a gift because of what Christ did.

I think your main point that its only the extreme events not the normal everyday assaults that are a problem is wrong. I know that objectively cycling is much better for me than not cycling, health benefits far outweigh risks, and most 0.5-1.5m passes are not particularly dangerous… yet, I am so sick and tired of them. I have been cycling most of my life. I am a confident and experienced cyclist. I am used to cycle on the road and in traffic. Yet, constantly being passed by vehicles with 0.5-1.5m distance is starting to take a toll on my nerves. I am not sure how much longer I can take it. And I totally believe that a lot of people don”t cycle even just because of that “”normal” van passing with around 1 meter distance” events, and not just because of the much rarer crazy person passing at 20cm. If the police did something against close passing, that would at least show that I am not completely forsaken, that alone would mean something to me. Currently, I feel abandoned by council, politicians, and police. In no other area of life would it be acceptable to threaten people like what seems to be accepted regarding people on cycles. Passing me at 30 mph with less than 1 meter distance is in no way acceptable. Doing something like that anywhere else but on the road would get people thrown into prison immediately.

Hmmm. My main point was winning a prize. I didn’t say anything about extreme events and the normal everyday assaults. You must have me confused with someone else 🙂

Cyclists and motorists should share the road safely. I am not that happy about cars cutting it too close when passing. I’ve had a few close calls and they are not at all pleasant.
