Ottawa
Lorraine and I spent the weekend in Ottawa. We both needed a bit of a break from some of the noise of daily life and we both love the Ottawa area. A few photos from the time away. Click on any image for a larger photo and slideshow.
We had certificates for a complimentary stay at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. It is the very big building in the middle of the photograph.
We were close to the Parliament buildings. They seem to look their best at night.
I watched this fellow several times. He was canvassing for money and it had something to do with his ability to hold two tennis racquets relatively still. Like a statue of a tennis player only holding two racquets instead of one. Despite his commitment to the task, I did not see anyone give him money. I guess they couldn’t figure out whether he was in need or just involved in some kind of racketeering.
Weather was beautiful and so was the sunset over the Rideau Canal.
Walkens always welcome at this barbershop in the Byward Market. I had just cut my hair, so I Walken’d on by.
Colourful steps leading up from the Rideau Canal.
Golden cross atop the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica.
After a long evening enjoying the sights of downtown Ottawa, we made our way back to the Chateau Laurier.
The elevators at the hotel were a touch confusing. Both lights were on over the elevator door. Was it going down, or going up? And while I am it, why green for up? And why red for down?
