New York City

Matthew, my youngest son, is off to New York city for a few days. A school trip for the stage band. I’m not sure how much playing the band is doing in New York, but they will get a great chance to see the city.

He will be leaving Kingston tomorrow bright and early at 6am. They are taking a bus into New Jersey which should see him arrive at around 3pm.

Wednesday evening should be quite a bit of fun. Dinner at BB King Blues Club followed by some sight-seeing in Times Square and a Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera.

Thursday will be a full-day tour of New York City including Central Park, Lincoln Center, Chinatown, World Trade Center and Battery Park. Followed by another Broadway show, Jekyll and Hyde.

Friday the band will play at the Heritage Music Festival. In the evening they will head out to watch the New York Mets play the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Saturday morning, a tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Some time for shopping at Century 21 — Church and Broadway — in the afternoon. And then a dinner cruise.

Sunday morning they will attend a service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, do a bit of shopping on Fifth Avenue, and make their way back to Kingston on Sunday afternoon.

I don’t remember my school trips being this much fun.
