Carmel-by-the-Sea
We rented a car early Friday morning and we took a 49-mile scenic drive mostly on Highway 1 down to Carmel-by-the-Sea.
There were so many opportunities for photography that we took over four hours to make the trip. Hard to drive by scenes like the following:
When we arrived at Carmel-by-the-Sea, the area was covered by mist. Unfortunate as it made the photography really challenging. I was shooting my Fuji X-Pro 1 — a fabulous camera by the way — and the camera’s light meter was having a hard time reading the heavy fog.
The area is stunning. Almost mystical.
There were some beautiful homes that faced the shoreline.
The scenic drive down was wonderful. The drive back to San Francisco? Not so good. We had to get the rental car back to downtown San Francisco before 7:30pm which meant that we were in the midst of the heavy commuter traffic on our return trip. Driving in downtown San Francisco during the evening rush is just not fun.
I am arriving in SF on the 16 Apr. I would love to rent a car and drive to Carmel by the Sea. We are staying downtown. Can you tell me where to get a car and how to make this as hassle free as possible. Thanks for your pics and info. Nancy
Hi Nancy,
Well, my sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner. The website was involved in a wee bit of a mess due to migration issues and there was some temporary loss of data which also included a temporary loss of your comment. I sure hope that you were able to resolve your rental car and that you were able to enjoy the wonderful area in and around San Francisco. My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Richard
