Tone
I had a chance to break in the new guitar today. The Collings CL Deluxe was a treat to play live. A very rich and powerful tone machine. And I also had a Diamond Memory Lane 2 delay pedal on the board for the first time. In a word, awesome. Awesome guitar. Awesome guitar rig. Awesome tone. I mean, the whole setup was just dripping with tone. Jaw dropping tone. Seriously phat tone. Warm, round, clear, punchy tone. Decades it has taken me to find this tone. And it all came together today. I was simply overjoyed. The quest for tone had ended.
Me: “So how did the new guitar sound today?”
Lorraine: ” Couldn’t tell any difference from your old one. Sounded the same.”
The quest for tone resumes.
Haha no way. Difference in tone was night and day
Certainly sounded that way to me as well 🙂
’tis a noble quest, this search for tone of which you speak.
Hi, Richard, I have been carefully selecting the pedals for my new pedal board. I have been following with interest your affinity with delay – a good thing for sure!
I have set my sights on this one – the Empress Modified Vintage Super Delay. Check it out. It’s a little pricey, but I think worth it. Mine will arrive shortly.
I have heard great things about this pedal! Hmmm… do I have room on the pedalboard for a fourth delay?
🙂
It arrives today! Shipped from Ottawa – a great bunch of guys there. And there’s nothing wrong with swapping out a pedal or two for a few minutes.
… de-lay, de-lay…I once heard a great man utter to his (and may I say very understanding) wife…
Tell Lorraine I said it was ok for you to buy it. 😉
I think Lorraine needs more convincing so this might help 🙂
Who did you use in Ottawa?
…so, the instant I hit ‘submit’, the doorbell rang. Yup, gotta go try out my new pedal! 🙂
