Personal Brand
I have been asked to submit a personal brand by Monday. What is a personal brand? It was presented to me this way:
A personal brand is a statement (or statements) of positioning and targeting. It should be specific to you and align with your strengths and passions. It can answer any of these questions: what are you great at, who do you serve, what are your goals, what do you believe in, what do you love, and what do you provide for others.
Wikipedia defines it this way:
Personal branding is the process whereby people and their careers are marked as brands. It has been noted that while previous self-help management techniques were about self-improvement, the personal branding concept suggests instead that success comes from self-packaging. Further defined as the creation of an asset that pertains to a particular person or individual; this includes but is not limited to the body, clothing, appearance and knowledge contained within, leading to an indelible impression that is uniquely distinguishable.
I have to write two sentences or so.
I googled “personal branding”. My, my. There are a lot of folks who write about the importance of a personal brand. There are even blogs about personal branding. And people win awards for their personal brand. Like this guy.
There is even a process for authentic personal branding. As opposed to the more basic self-promotion approach mastered by people like Donald Trump.
Two sentences.
How about this for my personal brand?
Richard. Rocks.
Feel free to comment.
lol sentences containing over three words. 🙂
Ok. How about this: “Richard. He Rocks.” 🙂
Thanks for the plug Richard.
You are welcome. I found your site very helpful.
This sounds like another great idea from HR that has nothing to do with accomplishing anything productive.
However, I think you have nailed it.
Cheers, Al.
It is probably more about having a bit of fun at the end of the year. I can see having some fun with my new personal brand 🙂
personal branding ? isn’t that just getting a tattoo ?

Or, perhaps Ouch? 🙂
