Not A Cold Call

If it comes in from LinkedIn, it cannot be a cold call.

Someone you do not know has indicated you are a Friend:

Rather than a cold-call, I feel this is a great way to introduce our firm to you & for you to learn whether or not we can be of assistance sooner.

      Hi son,

When I am at work, I receive numerous calls from people trying to sell me things. I do not ask for them to call me. I do not know who they are. They call me hoping to get a meeting. This approach, where someone calls you without your knowledge, is known as “cold calling”.

Unfortunately, many of these people are now starting to use email and other forms of electronic communication, such as LinkedIn, to try and get a meeting. In my opinion, this is just another form of “cold calling”.

It is a bit of a nuisance and I found it interesting that in the example above, the person thought that the email was not a cold call. Perhaps he thought that cold calling only applied to telephone calls.

      Hope that helps!
