Factory Warranty Phone Calls
Sigh. More spam and scam. This time it was a recorded phone call to my cell phone telling me that my factory warranty is about to expire. Press 1 to speak to a representative.
This particular con has gone out of control in the States — see here and here for some examples. The RCMP have a caution here.
Although I have my cell phone number registered on the do not call registry, I have no way to identify the offending company. Based on my searches on the web, many people are getting dozens of calls a week utterly unable to get the nonsense to stop.
I’ve been getting these every week or so for the last few months. Imagine my surprise when your post here showed up in the first page of search results for factory warranty phone call.
Hi Mike. For better or worse, Google does an excellent job indexing this blog. Lots of inbound traffic from the search engines.
Sorry to hear that you have been targeted by this spam. A little funny though. You would think that calling someone who owned a car would be a minimum requirement for a scam like this one 😉
Yeah, these phone calls are the most annoying thing ever! Is anyone so stupid to actually think that this is a real phonecall?
Why dosne’t the police do anything to stop this?
I feel sorry for anyone that will actually give them any money…..
