There should be a law against the G sharp diminished 7 chord. I am playing acoustic guitar this coming Sunday. And I have to play that chord. Yuck. Other awkward fingerings for this chord can be found here.
I googled G sharp diminished 7 and this was the website that came up. Lots of interesting fingerings for that chord. To be fair, there are a couple of workable fingerings. I couldn’t get my hands around the one in the post. Very odd inversion.
The trick as well is to find a voicing that is within the tonal range of its adjacent chords. While there may be another correct voicing up the neck by 7 frets, that voicing may not fit in with the song….Ted Greene has been my source for voicings that work, although he has gathered and demonstrates way more than the average guitar player needs in the way of a chord aresenal….
