A friend and former colleague passed away quite unexpectedly. He was about my age. Healthy. Active. A very accomplished individual. He had recently finished his PhD at Carlton. He had just started a new career with a new company.
When we worked together, we usually met once every two weeks. Our discussions were always interesting. He was a very conceptual thinker. He was very passionate.
I looked up his page at Carlton. His area of research and his list of publications revealed a person with exceptionally well developed intellect.
But his death made me think. He went to sleep a couple of nights back not expecting to die. Death met him during his sleep. He never woke up.
I wonder, did he attend to the important matters in life?
I asked myself the same question.
