Looking Back

I was thinking about an old computer of mine. An original IBM PC 5051, powered by a 4.77MHz Intel 8088 with 16KB of RAM and a single-sided 160KB floppy disk. The machine cost over $5,000. Monitor and printer were extra charges.

And now, roughly 25 years later, my favourite computer is an iMac powered by a 2GHz Power PC with 2GB of RAM and 1.5 Terabytes of storage. All for about $2,500.

I guess that’s what happens as you get older. Stuff that you thought was new and exciting becomes old and obsolete.
