Napa Valley
Lorraine and I went to the Napa Valley. Napa Valley is the heart of wine growing in California. We do not drink so it may seem odd that we would elect to go on a wine tour. Napa Valley is a major attraction and we wanted to see some of North California. I am so glad that we went.
Our hotel concierge had recommended a tour of Robert Mondavi’s winery. Words cannot describe the passion and the excellence that came through every aspect of the tour. I was absolutely stunned by the environment and the pursuit of quality in every step of the operation.
This from a man who was thrown out of his family’s winery at 52 years of age. He basically started his business at 53.
I purchased Robert Mondavi’s book titled Harvests of Joy – My Passion For Excellence.
One quote really hit home to me:
Follow your passion. Pour in your heart and soul. Settle for nothing less than excellence. And with enough hard work and faith in yourself, you can realize your dreams.
Here are a few photos that I took at the To Kalon vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley. The site was absolutely stunning.
Very nice. Mondavi is one of my favorote Merlots. If I had known you were going there….
Did you really pick up that PRS??
Rare indeed is an environment where excellence is pursued with such passion. I was not expecting a winery tour to have such an impact.
As far as the PRS goes… I thought it was a bargain at that price. Didn’t you?
